Journal of Practical Intelligence & Wisdom

Open Access Policy

The Journal of Practical Intelligence and Wisdom (JPIW) is committed to making high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarship freely accessible to a global audience of academics, policymakers, and practitioners. We believe that knowledge addressing human judgment, ethical action, and wisdom should be a public good, immediately and permanently available.

1. The JPIW Publishing Model: Platinum Open Access

JPIW operates entirely on a Platinum Open Access model. This is the gold standard for public-interest publishing, eliminating financial barriers for both authors and readers.

  • No Article Processing Charges (APCs): Authors pay no fees whatsoever to submit, process, or publish their manuscripts in JPIW.
  • No Subscription Fees: All published content (Research Articles and Practitioner Essays) is free to read, download, share, and reuse immediately upon publication, with no paywalls or required registrations.

2. Licensing and Reuse Rights (CC BY 4.0)

To maximize the impact, discoverability, and application of the research, all content in JPIW is published under the highly permissive Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

This license requires only that users give appropriate credit to the original authors (you) and JPIW.

What the License Allows:

3. Copyright and Author Rights

Authors Retain Full Copyright. JPIW does not require authors to transfer their copyright. Authors grant JPIW the non-exclusive right to publish the article and identify itself as the original publisher.

  • Self-Archiving: Authors are free to deposit any version of their manuscript (pre-print, post-print, or the final published PDF) in institutional or funding body repositories, websites, and social media platforms immediately upon publication.
  • Reuse Rights: Authors retain the right to use their published work for personal teaching, presentation, and subsequent research purposes without requesting permission from the publisher.

4. Archiving, Preservation, and Indexing

JPIW is committed to the permanent preservation of its digital content to ensure accessibility far into the future.

  • Perpetual Archiving: JPIW guarantees the long-term preservation of its scholarly record by depositing its content with the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). This third-party service ensures that content remains available and its integrity is maintained even if the journal ceases publication.
  • Indexing and Metadata: All articles are assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and registered with Crossref. This ensures permanent linking and accurate citation across the internet.
  • Discovery: We comply with the requirements for indexing in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) to maximize global discovery and impact.

The world does not need more information. It needs more wisdom in action.
